The truth is finally out. After years and years of speculation, the creator of the famous cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, has finally been unmasked. Many people who have been following news related to bitcoin will be aware of a ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ being wrongly identified as the founder of the cryptocurrency which is now banned in many parts of the world. In an interview with BBC, Dr. Craig Wright has identified himself as Satoshi Nakamoto and the real creator of bitcoin!
Dr. Craig Wright even provided cryptographic evidence to go with his claim of being the founder of bitcoin.
The members of the Bitcoin community, people with prominence in the domain and other members have also confirmed the claims made by him. He even digitally signed messages using cryptographic keys that were created during the early days of bitcoin development. The keys are found to be linked with blocks of bitcoins that have been known to be mined by ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’. This puts all speculations to rest about his identity.
While demonstrating the data and confirming his identity:
These are the blocks used to send 10 bitcoins to Hal Finney in January as the first bitcoin transaction
For those of you unaware, Finney is a cryptographer and engineer who helped in the development of the bitcoin protocol. Ever since Wright has been implicated as the man behind bitcoin, there has been a lot of scrutiny if he is actually Satoshi Nakamoto. By going public, he is trying to put an end to all the speculation which has been hurting people who are close to him.
“There are lots of stories out there that have been made up and I don’t like it hurting those people I care about. I don’t want any of them to be impacted by this. I have not done this because it is what I wanted. It’s not because of my choice. I really do not want to be the public face of anything.”
Wright also published a blog post that further details what he has been up to since bitcoin came into prominence. The post also further helps in confirming his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto. As impressive as his invention of bitcoin has been, his educational qualifications are equally impressive. As per his website, Dr. Craig Wright is a computer scientist, a businessman, and an inventor. Born in Brisbane, Australia, in October 1970, he studied engineering at the University of Queensland, before switching to computer science, and later studied nuclear physics and organic chemistry, as well as gaining a Masters in Statistics, a Masters in Law, and a Doctorate in theology. Now that’s mightily impressive!
